Why Real Housewives Get Fired
Why Real Housewives Get Fired
Many viewers and fans of the Bravo TV reality television show series, the Real Housewives, have pondered on the question of why Real Housewives get fired. How is it that some Real Housewives stars are let go while others are not? There are many reasons why Bravo makes the decision to let go of one Real Housewives star and keep another, these include, being an outcast, doing something unforgivable, and Andy Cohen just not liking the person. However, I have my own theories which I discuss in my book, the Real Reasons Why Real Housewives Get Fired. I highly recommend you read it because I feel I have unique perspective on this question.

How Phaedra Parks Inspired Me to Write My Book
Phaedra Parks will forever be remembered as one of the housewives fired after orchestrating a big lie about her co-star Kandi Burruss. Together with Porsha Williams, Phaedra made up a lie and rumor that Kandi did not have good intentions towards Porsha. All of this happened during season 10 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

During season 10 reunion, it was revealed that not only did Phaedra lie about Kandi’s intentions towards Porsha, but she also lied about what Kandi’s husband Todd Tucker was doing in New York. Apparently, the lie was that Todd was going around New York City using an alias name of Marvin, in order for him to cheat on Kandi.
The lies Phaedra told and the way we found out about it on the reunion, was so shocking and dramatic that many viewers were left needing to recover for a few days after the reunion. In addition, once the reunion ended, it was revealed that Phaedra Parks would not return to season 11 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Does Bravo Fire Housewives?
So was Phaedra Parks fired by Bravo? Not necessarily. The decision to not have Phaedra Parks back on the show was multifaceted. One of the biggest reason why Phaedra Parks could not return on the Real Housewives of Atlanta was because Kandi actually gave Bravo an ultimatum; Kandi would not return to the show if Phaedra Parks returned.
Although Kandi’s ultimatum did influence the decision, the real reason has to do with Phaedra Parks losing all her cards of the reality tv show game. You see, to have longevity on a reality show, the cast has to be strategic and play the long game.
I describe these tactics and strategies in my book, the Real Reason Real Housewives Get Fired. I highly suggest that you read this book because the reasons I lay out apply to other Real Housewives shows.
Nonetheless, what baffled the viewers about Phaedra being let go over a lie, is the fact that housewives on other shows, like Real Housewives of New Jersey, who have done far worse, continue to be casted. What’s going on?
The Teresa Giudice Paradox
The biggest mystery about Real Housewives getting fired is hands down Teresa Giudice. Despite flipping a table, chasing her co-star, throwing drinks, lying about Melissa Gorga, and going to jail, Teresa has never been fired. To be honest, many fans and viewers have been angry for years that Teresa seems to get a pass from Bravo despite her bad behavior.
Here’s my opinion. Teresa is accidentally good at playing the reality tv show game. She has won many viewers because of her authenticity, but also has time and time again been the central character of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. The Real Housewives of New Jersey evolved to center around Teresa Giudice and her family. Bravo deliberately hired Teresa's family to antagonize her and bring out her unhinged behavior, which makes for good tv, and thus making a lot of money for Bravo.
Listen, I completely understand people’s frustrations over Teresa continuing to be the main star of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. However, I also understand Bravo’s decision; it’s a smart business move.
