Bravo's Mistake to Fire Marlo Hampton and Sheree Whitfield
Listen, I fully understand that after season 15 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta overall ratings, Bravo had no choice but to let go of ninety percent of the cast. However, looking at the current ratings of season 16 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, I can say that Bravo made a mistake to fire Marlo Hampton and Sheree Whitfield. Sheree was the bone collector, and Marlo was the friend of the show that always stirred the drama. Letting Sheree and Marlo go as Porsha Williams returned to the show was clearly a ploy to protect Porsha's feelings, which has backfired so far. Let's discuss my reasons why I personally think Marlo and Sheree should have been kept in the friend role, but with higher salaries.
Sheree Whitfield - The Bone Collector
Sheree Whitfield was named the bone collector by the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta because she kept record of all the drama from all the women, aka collecting bones. To me, this is what made Sheree a great cast member. The Real Housewives of Atlanta needs women who are authentic and willing to confront issues head on without fear, which is what Sheree always did.
If you remember, Sheree along with Marlo, were the two people who brought out to the forefront, the rumors that Phaedra Parks was spreading about Kandi Burruss on season 9 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. In episode 9 of season 9 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, If These Woods Could Talk, it was Marlo who initiated the drama towards the end of the episode, by asking Kandi if she was a lesbian. This question was literally the spark that lit the fire for the rest of the season. Sheree then added more fuel to the fire by stating that it was Porsha who told her that Kandi was in the closet.

Sheree Whitfield, Porsha Williams, and Marlo Hampton |
Do you see how Marlo and Sheree are essential cast members to the Real Housewives of Atlanta, given a good ensemble cast?
Sheree Whitfield - The One-Liner Queen
Let us also not forget that Sheree is the one-liner queen; who gone check me boo? Sheree's who gone check me boo one-liner has already been historically one of the most recognized phrases from the Real Housewives franchise. Another one-liner from Sheree that I love is "squats not shots," as a response to Drew Sidora questioning how she stays fit.
So, how did Bravo forget all of these attributes of Sheree? I can only imagine how good Sheree would have been for season 16 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta; she would have fished out all the information from Porsha about how she got with Simon Guobadia. Bravo completely missed the mark by not keeping Sheree!
Marlo Hampton and Porsha's Relationship
As I have said, Marlo has always been the spark that lit the fire in all of the Real Housewives of Atlanta history. From her friendships with strong personalities like Kenya Moore and Nene Leakes, to her dislike of Porsha Williams. Marlo would have been a perfect fit for Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16, especially now that Porsha is back on the show.
I personally believe that had Marlo been on season 16, Porsha would have truly been exposed for everything that she did to former castmate Falynn Pina (formerly Falynn Guobadia), including stealing her husband. Even recently, Marlo has made statements about Porsha Williams only marrying Simon Guobadia for money on her podcast with former cast member Sanya Ross. Marlo feels that Porsha Williams' reasons for divorcing Simon Guobadia are clear indicators that she only married him for his money, given that Porsha has said that she had to protect their assets. The talk of assets and not love is what does not sit well with Marlo.
So how did Bravo miss this great opportunity to have Marlo Hampton and Porsha Williams in the same room? Seriously! This was a missed opportunity and mistake by Bravo.
Although I like season 16 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta cast so far, especially with additions of Angela Oakley, Kelli Ferrell, and Brittany Eady, I still think that heavy hitters like Marlo and Sheree would have made this season way more exciting than what it is now.
Season 16 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta ratings is struggling, as I wrote about in a previous blog post. Bravo clearly needs to do a better job at casting the correct people.
Nonetheless, I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic; did Bravo make a mistake by firing Marlo Hampton and Sheree Whitfield?
